Entrecards that is, I joined Entrecard yesterday and so far it looks like it’s going to be an invaluable addition to my website. Entrecard is a new concept that allows bloggers to easily drive traffic to their websites by showing genuine interest in others.
Entrecard has set up a video that explains the service but they make it sound more complicated then it really is. Basically you create then have the ability to drop a virtual business card at the blogs you visit every day that run an Entrecard widget. The website owners will then see your card and often times visit your website in return. Each time you drop a card it earns you credits which can be used towards advertising on other blogs, transferred to other members, or privately sold in classifieds or auctions. You can also receive credits from bloggers wanting to advertise on your blog for a price that’s determined by your blog’s popularity. It’s almost like a game, but best of all it’s is a free service.
I’ve only been a member for a day and I’m already seeing an increase in traffic, very cool.
Blog about the latest technology on SocialSpark
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 04/14/08 at 09:04:16 amSocialSpark is a new concept founded by Izea, the creators of the ever popular PayPerPost.com. Right now the service is still in private alpha but soon it will open to the public and when it does they are going to be looking for geeky bloggers to write about and review some of the latest gadgets and websites.
Let’s say you run a blog that’s much like this one where you’re often doing product reviews and talking about the latest gems around the internet. Now imagine a service where you could blog about all of your favorite topics and you can be paid for all of the hard work. Not only does this service give you the ability to make money but it also brings a whole community aspect where you’re able to network with fellow bloggers and directly with the advertisers which means more traffic and better word-of-mouth for you and your blog. Sounds pretty good right? I can say from personal experience that an important cornerstone to getting a decent following on your blog is participating in a community with other bloggers and that’s part of what SocialSpark is all about.
As I mentioned before SocialSpark is currently in private alpha and they are still working out some of the bugs. There are rumors that a public beta release isn’t far off but if you absolutely can’t wait you can sign up for more information on the SocialSpark website right now, and who knows maybe you will be emailed an invite.
Get a link in the Top Spots for $3
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 04/03/08 at 02:04:48 pmI’m giving a new service a try, it’s called ScratchBack and you can find their widget on the sidebar off to your right. It looks like a paid link service but it’s really an automatic tip jar, if you give me a few bucks it will offer you a *free* link on my website. You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours – hence the name of the service.
For a mere $3.00 tip you can get yourself a link on the front page, which means decent exposure to about 4500 unique visitors a month for however long the link stays on the list. I can guarantee it will be a quality linkback too; $3.00 is a heck of a deal on a PR3 website and depending on how well it does that price could go up.
So what are you waiting for?! Grab yourself a place in my Top Spots while you can.
Free links & a chance to win $500.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 02/28/08 at 03:02:16 pmA new startup called Business+Directory is offering online advertisers free linkbacks for the month of February. While Feb. has almost come to an end there’s still time to get a free review on a promising directory service if you act fast. Business+Directory is working on building a huge database of quality links for everything from E-Commerce to Real Estate that’s geared towards other businesses trying to find quality products and services on the internet.
Here’s an example of how this service could come in handy, say you’re a restaurant and you are short of a specific item on your menu. All you would have to do is log onto a directory website like this one and find a distributor or wholesaler for the item you’re looking for. With the advanced search capabilities and organization this directory has to offer it couldn’t be easier to find a local business that suits your needs.
However Business+Directory is not quite there just yet, adding your business to the directory will help the database grow and right now you can do it for free.
If you’re a fellow blogger like myself, listen up. The founder of Business+Directory is running a contest where you could win a grand prize of $500.00 Cash and a BFG nVidia GeForce 8600 GT OC graphics card. All you have to do is come up with a blurb about the new Business+Directory service and mention the contest, just like what I’m doing now. A chance at 500 bucks and a top-of-the-line gaming card for a simple blog entry. Easy enough right? There are a few other simple requirements but you can check out all of the contest details here.
Don’t worry Google, we hate you too.

This has been blogged about by countless people and the whole PR hit story is starting to get old. But for the 4 of you that haven’t heard, over the last month Google has been going around to every website and blog possible and decreasing page rankings as a penalty for having paid links and advertisements somewhere on the website. With me being affiliated with PayPerPost I definitely have my fair share of paid outbound links and in response Google has completely killed my ranking from a PR3 to a PR0, BAM! just like that. According to Google and their self-manifested ranking system, I don’t exist.
Some people have told me that I’m getting all worked up about this because a lower PR will make for lower paying opportunities with paid blogging but that really couldn’t be further then the truth. I rarely do paid blogging to begin with and money has nothing to do with it. The problem is that these days you can almost install WordPress or the CMS of your choice and start blogging and you will get a solid ranking from Google like the week after.
I had a good ranking that I worked hard for and Google didn’t just lower it, they took it away. Before I started with any paid blogging I had my PR3, so the paid links we’re not in any way artificially boosting my rank. Here’s what I’m getting at, I completely agree with Google and their decision to not count paid linking as real outbound links and in turn that may an adverse affect on some page’s ranking. But in my case my website had a ranking and I then I post a very small number of paid links that wouldn’t have had an effect on my ranking to begin with, and Google, they take away the entire ranking for all links for not just the page but the entire website. BS.
I can’t get too worked up about it though, I have to understand that it’s just a number and I’m learning that now because Google is getting so weird with the PR system that they are essentially throwing it out the window. It means nothing, my traffic and subscribers are higher than ever.
I’m not a spammer Google, this isn’t a link farm. But don’t worry Google, we hate you too.
I’m Obsessed
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 11/05/07 at 04:11:04 pmOver the last few weeks I have found myself paying more attention to everything that’s going on with PayPerPost. I wouldn’t consider myself a dedicated-die-hard blogger like some of the people on there but I’m interested in PayPerPost as a company especially with all of the exciting developments that are going on with the newly announced Izea Inc. Ok, so I may have watched all 39 episodes of the PayPerPost reality show – Rockstartup in a matter of a couple days last week… But that’s just because I haven’t bothered watching it before, I didn’t know how fascinating it was to be behind the scenes of a successful startup. That and for some reason I thought it was about a band and musicians, not PayPerPost.
PayPerPost Izea will be hosting PostieCon this upcoming weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. If I had the vacation time and a few extra bucks I would definitely make the trip down there. From what I’ve seen it’s going to be a good size convention with the trade show, guest speakers, Blogger’s Choice Awards, and the announcement of Project Argus with the private alpha opening on the 10th. Very exciting!
As for Izea, I’m never a fan of change and I know that this is going to make PayPerPost more of a product and less of a primary focus. It’s the nature of a growing business and the continuing venture for more growth. It’s understandable, just kind of sad. Business wise, Izea is a good move and with all of their recent acquisitions and projects I was sort of expecting it. PayPerPost is just not a professional name to work under, it’s a product. I just hope it doesn’t affect the attention and detail that PayPerPost has put into its community and user base.
She says I’m obsessed. I’m not obsessed… Just interested.
The bet is over, She won.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 08/16/07 at 07:08:02 pmSince Sunday I have had a running bet with Courtney about who could pull in the most moolah from sponsored posts. We both gave it our best, I actually have one more high paying opp reserved but I decided to throw in the towel, even if I did the last post I would be over $10.00 behind her and I would be at my daily limit. So it was a challenge and she is officially the queen of sponsored blogging.
The bet explains why there has been so many posts this week, a lot of extra content around the website to the point where it’s almost defacing it. I’m just happy to be back to normal again ![]()
