Difficult is Worth Doing: Behind the Scenes
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 05/19/08 at 12:05:31 pmDifficult is worth doing is the theme behind the new Honda ad campaign that features an unbranded focus on advanced skydiving maneuvers. The project is designed to build interest for a future launch of a new vehicle which will accompany a more detailed version of the advertisements. Right now the television spots last 10 to 20 seconds in length like the one shown above and as you can see the only branding is the web address at the end – Difficultisworthdoing.com.
The website is actually a behind the scenes blog about the production of the advertisement, it’s an inside look into everything that is put into an ad campaign which in this case includes a lot of training and wicked camera work. Unfortunately the advertisements will only be shown in the UK but the filming is being done here in the United States at the Perris Valley Skydiving Center in California.
I’m not an advertising expert but I do find these “outside of the box” methods of gathering people’s curiosity for new products to be pretty interesting.
Get a link in the Top Spots for $3
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 04/03/08 at 02:04:48 pmI’m giving a new service a try, it’s called ScratchBack and you can find their widget on the sidebar off to your right. It looks like a paid link service but it’s really an automatic tip jar, if you give me a few bucks it will offer you a *free* link on my website. You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours – hence the name of the service.
For a mere $3.00 tip you can get yourself a link on the front page, which means decent exposure to about 4500 unique visitors a month for however long the link stays on the list. I can guarantee it will be a quality linkback too; $3.00 is a heck of a deal on a PR3 website and depending on how well it does that price could go up.
So what are you waiting for?! Grab yourself a place in my Top Spots while you can.
NCMR 2008 in Minneapolis, MN June 6-8th
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 03/26/08 at 06:03:10 pmThe National Conference for Media Reform (NCMR) is coming to Minneapolis, Minnesota this June 6th through 8th. NCMR is put together by FreePress.net which is the same organization that coordinates the efforts behind the SavetheInternet.com Coalition for Network Neutrality. NCMR is an event for everyone from concerned citizens and activists to educators and journalists who are calling for change in our nation’s media system.
The people who know me personally should know that I’m a firm believer in media reform and with NCMR in Minnesota this year I just might drop the cash for registration. Passes aren’t cheap but right now they are offering early bird discounts until the end of March, scholarship opportunities are also available for those who qualify.
Want to learn more? Check out the video clip and PSA posted below or visit the NCMR website here.
Josephus Solution in C++
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 03/09/08 at 02:03:18 pmMartyr2 on Dream in Code wrote a hilarious story today that features the entire DIC team (including myself as Marko the Giant!) fending off hordes of newbie’s using Josephus algorithm. Most of it is over my head but its entertaining nonetheless, Take a look.
Free links & a chance to win $500.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 02/28/08 at 03:02:16 pmA new startup called Business+Directory is offering online advertisers free linkbacks for the month of February. While Feb. has almost come to an end there’s still time to get a free review on a promising directory service if you act fast. Business+Directory is working on building a huge database of quality links for everything from E-Commerce to Real Estate that’s geared towards other businesses trying to find quality products and services on the internet.
Here’s an example of how this service could come in handy, say you’re a restaurant and you are short of a specific item on your menu. All you would have to do is log onto a directory website like this one and find a distributor or wholesaler for the item you’re looking for. With the advanced search capabilities and organization this directory has to offer it couldn’t be easier to find a local business that suits your needs.
However Business+Directory is not quite there just yet, adding your business to the directory will help the database grow and right now you can do it for free.
If you’re a fellow blogger like myself, listen up. The founder of Business+Directory is running a contest where you could win a grand prize of $500.00 Cash and a BFG nVidia GeForce 8600 GT OC graphics card. All you have to do is come up with a blurb about the new Business+Directory service and mention the contest, just like what I’m doing now. A chance at 500 bucks and a top-of-the-line gaming card for a simple blog entry. Easy enough right? There are a few other simple requirements but you can check out all of the contest details here.
My Mother, The Blogger.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 12/20/07 at 12:12:40 pm
A couple months ago I assisted my mom with starting her very own blog. I knew that she would have some clever writings to share and the idea behind what was going to be expressed, the name etc. was good so I was looking forward to her getting started.
This month she has been busy with her “12 Blogs of Christmas” which are essentially entries about important points or events in our family’s Christmas planning and celebration. We have always taken the holidays to the next level, as far back as I can remember, Christmas has always been a big deal in our family and many great traditions have been created because of it.
So without further introduction, I invite my readers and friends to check out my mother’s blog for a few holiday tips’ and a good laugh – HandMeDownLife.com
