How are things on the west coast?

“I hear you’re moving real fine. You wear those shoes like a dove. Now strut those shoes as we go roaming into the night. Well how are things on the west coast?”

Wouldn’t it be fun if I started every blog entry with song lyrics that ultimately have nothing to do with the entry itself? I’ve noticed that from a traffic standpoint the couple entries that I have written to include lyrics from a song end up getting a lot of hits. I don’t know whether it’s because people are actually looking for the lyrics to the track or what, but I bet with all of the weird music I listen to I could find some lyrics to go with every entry. It could be my trademark.

Anyways, I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m moving again. I’m packing up my stuff and I’m moving back to the west coast. My website that is.

(mt) Media Temple

When I left Media Temple earlier this year after the frequent outages I was experiencing with their Grid-Service platform, I had some time to explore my options with other web hosts. I finally landed on A Small Orange, at first their reliability far surpassed what I was going through with MT, but after a while I noticed that their uptime wasn’t a lot better, and worst of all the customer service just sucked. Media Temple has an easy to use ticketing system, 24/7 phone support, and an up-to-date status blog that at least mentions any hiccups or maintenance the company is working on. ASO has a status blog of sorts that is rarely updated, the ticketing system is a cumbersome to use, and they have no phone support. None.

When my website is down I like to have a person to call and yell at, and when I announce that I’m leaving with 1 insignificant email, it means a lot to me when a high-up representative from the company gives me their personal number to call and talk to about the problems and then issues me a refund for the last year’s worth of service. To be honest, I felt bad about leaving Media Temple to begin with and despite the issues I had with them I’m proud to stand behind my 10 reasons for going with MediaTemple in the first place.

I have a total of 10 websites to move, some are big, some small, and I already have 8 of them back on MT’s servers. Can you guess which one I saved for last?
