Suddenly, I feel older.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 05/28/07 at 05:05:40 pmSo I’ve been meaning to catch up on jotting down what’s been going on over the last week or so. It’s funny because I could be ranting about the lack of free-time I’ve had to do so, but in reality I’m nearing the end of a 5 day mini-vacation… My birthday was on the 22nd and I had planned to go out with some friends the day after so I decided to take a couple days off and extend the memorial weekend, I’m glad I did.

The above picture was taken at a place called Crystal or Crystal’s? located in Mora, MN. For those who don’t recall what I look like, I’m the guy on the right. We actually ended up hopping around to a few local bars and overall just had some much needed fun, it was great and I really wish we had the chance to do it more often. That night definitely tested my drinking tolerance and opened up whole new world of alcoholic mixtures and opportunities for me. Thanks again guys
I’m starting to realize that I’m getting to be well into my 20’s which to me is really a weird feeling. I mean I feel so immature at times, like I’m just not ready for life just yet. Is it too early for me to want to be a kid again? I think I’ll always feel like a kid when it comes to birthdays and celebrations in my family. We always joke about having a ‘Birthday Week’ since we normally have various festivities during the week and then the nearest weekend we will do a BBQ or something. This weekend was no exception, my grandmother’s birthday is close to my own so we did like a little party at their house. Gifts, cake, the whole 9 yards, It’s awesome.
Speaking of gifts, I received something pretty amazing over the weekend. I’m going to take a few more days to play with it, but check back for a new product review on the new toy along with pictures of my redone bedroom in which holds the newly received piece of electronic goodness.
In the meantime, I’m going to go enjoy my last few hours of freedom. Happy Memorial Day folks.
‘Back To Basics’ Version 23.X.X
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 05/25/07 at 09:05:04 pmAs you can see I actually gave this version a little nickname. I got bored of the look I had going on here, no surprise right? Anyway, I thought I would whip up something fresh based off a theme called Simpla, you can see why. I even gave it a little nickname that goes with the overall look of this draft. We will see how long it lasts.
Without further introduction, Version 23 – Back To Basics.
Poisoned!
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 05/19/07 at 02:05:11 pmI was poisoned! Poisoned by food of which most likely came from an Americanized Mexican restaurant that serves it quite quickly. Let me go ahead and take back everything I said about Taco Bell in my previous post as they have sorely let me down. I spent Thursday night into Friday morning on a toilet with a trash can in front of my mouth, not a pretty sight. After an entire day of recovery I’m almost back to normal although I still look like a mutant from the extreme pressures of my vomit sessions. It’s so ironic that I just wrote about them too, its almost as if it we’re planned…
Again, thank you Taco Bell for the adventures I had the pleasure to endure this weekend.
The Magic that is Taco Bell.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 05/17/07 at 11:05:39 amI had a hard time coming up with something to write about today, So I thought I would just make it up as I go along. For the past 2 days over my lunch hour I have enjoyed a tasty meal from my favorite ‘Very-unhealthy-place-to-eat’ — Taco Bell. It’s funny because I’ll just crave it, it’s like there is something in the food that makes you need it again and again. However every time I finish my Taco Bell binge I regret it, it will start to taste bad near the end and no matter how little you eat you’re definitely in for a belly ache.
At least White Castle advertises their addictive ingredients, Damn you Taco Bell.
Movie Review: Spider-man 3
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 05/11/07 at 02:05:45 pmLast weekend I ventured to the local cinema to see Spiderman 3, and I’m just getting a chance now to write a few notes about the film.
I’m not a comic book enthusiast nor am I big into the genre so definitely take my ramblings with a grain of salt. Additionally, I’m sure there are literally 1000’s of SM III reviews out there so I really don’t even know why I’m writing this.
Anyway, I did see the other 2 films and when compared to the others you will definitely notice a lack of detail behind the story of this movie. I was surprised to find that not only were there three villains, but only 1 of them really had a solid story-line, that ran through the other movies. Again, as I said I really don’t know a lot about the Spider-man story in terms of the comic series so I’m really basing everything off the movies. Think of me as a person that has essentially never heard of Spider-man until the movies came along.
So, lack of details… I wanted to learn more about the Sandman, and actually more about Venom. I’ve heard about plans for a Spider-Man 4 so I’m assuming they will go into more detail about Venom there, but it was still disappointing how they brought Venom into the movie, and everything was so vague about it. The movie was definitely based around the action rather than the story. Unlike the other movies which really to me had the perfect blend of both. The action, effects, CG etc. were all amazing. They really did a great job; everything was quality, very well done. I would have liked to see more of Spider-Man swinging around in the metropolitan environment especially in his new black suit. I think that would have been better then the overly corny scene of him dancing around the streets…
Getting back to the story behind the movie, and I may go into some spoilers here. I really liked how they tied up the loose ends with Spider-Man’s Uncle, I think adding that whole dimension the film really kept the story going in multiple directions, it was good. The twist behind it all was good too, I didn’t expect that.
I wasn’t going to go on too much about this movie, like I said there are plenty of real reviews out there. I would say that if you’re a diehard fan of the genre and everything and for some reason haven’t already seen this movie, you will likely be disappointed. Overall it was a good but I guess for the hype, and the title of being the biggest box office opener in all history, I expected more.
Here’s what I’ve been up to.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 05/07/07 at 01:05:37 pmI thought I would jot down a little update on what’s been going on lately.
First off, a couple weeks ago I mentioned that I was going to be making a trip up to Duluth, MN and I was planning to take some photos of the amazing scenery up there. Unfortunately because of the shabby weather that weekend I ended up going to The Science Museum of Minnesota instead. I finally had a chance to upload some pictures I took of the exhibits there, they can be found on Flickr.
I’ve been really busy with a few big projects and things we have going on at work, so not surprisingly there isn’t a whole lot of ‘New’ going on with me right now. I hate to have work become a playing factor in what I want to do in my free time. However, due to my lack of time I have decided to essentially ditch the plans for a development blog based around Titan Blue. I’m still working on doing everything I want to do with it; I just don’t have the resources to go into detail about every… detail.
Lack of time was one of the reasons for ditching it anyway, I realized that the project having it’s own blog would only die off soon enough anyways, I mean I can only blog so much about setting up a computer right? I still plan to use the domain for remote access and diagnostics of the server and I will go into detail with that aspect of the project. I just don’t want to set up a separate blog for it; I’m having a hard enough time keeping this one up to date.
I have no complaints though, don’t get me wrong. I get stressed out and I definitely show that here, but I’m doing the work I love, I get paid well to do it, and eventually it will slow down again… hopefully.
Getting back to photos, as I mentioned last week I made my weekend into a 2-day project of ripping apart my home office. I took some photos of the re-done workspace with the new desk along with some other seemingly random shots, all of which can be found at my gallery on Flickr.
That’s all I have for now.
