CES 2007
I think ever since I’ve gotten into technology and computers, especially when I was a complete ZDTV and later TechTV addict I’ve wanted to go to the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. For those who don’t know, CES is held once a year and is literally the largest technology event in the world. Every vendor you can imagine is there to show off the latest in gizmo’s, games, computers, software, audio, and video… The reason I mentioned TechTV is because they used to have such awesome coverage of the event every year and that’s how I myself initially learned about the event.
Since then I’ve wanted to make it a mission to take a trip down to Las Vegas to attend the event, but I’ve never had the financial means or time to do so. Now that I make good money, and I have vacation time and everything, it may not be such an unreachable goal.
Until then I’m left with what’s covered on the internet. Fortunately over the past couple years sites like Engadget has offered great coverage including daily blogging and podcasts. So in my free time today I’ve been trying my best to keep up with the 1000’s of new products and such that are being launched or shown off today.
I was originally going to title this post ‘Welcome to the Human Network’ and I was going to base it around the absolutely amazing Keynote John Chambers of Cisco Systems gave on defining what the ‘Human Network’ really is and what it can be. In This Article, Engadget goes over some of the technology he had shown off in the presentation, it’s just crazy what can be done even with the resources we have today as he demonstrates.
Like last year, Macworld is definitely doing some thunder theft with the great products and changes their releasing; I find it funny how both events now land on the same days, and I find it amazing how much power Apple’s products have over the blogosphere and the media for that matter.
There are many groundbreaking products being shown off at CES and in my opinion a lot of them are more amazing then a new cell phone or an over glorified TiVo. For example, Dells ‘Black Ice’ XPS 710 H2C gaming rig, This Weather Forecasting Umbrella, the wicked Asus U1 Ultra-Portable, or DirecTV with their launch of the Sat-Go Portable Satellite TV System, just to list a few of the developments I’ve come across today.
