Photography is back!
I’ve been considering bringing back a photography gallery of some sort for a while now. The problem was if I had a self hosted gallery like before, it wasn’t always super easy to update, and it was never real popular in terms of traffic. I used Flickr a while back but I didn’t care for the 100 photo limit in the account, and at the time I was too cheap to pick up a Flickr Pro account.
I upgraded my old Flickr account to Flickr Pro today, unfortunately when I left Flickr I deleted all of my photos off of there, so as it stands right now it only has a handful of photos and most of them are from last summer. I will slowly upload more and more photos to my gallery. With the unlimited cap I’m free to put all of my photos on there which will be real nice.
The only concern I have with Flickr is security. Not like security as in someone breaking in, but like job security. Flickr is growing faster then ever, and should be around for years to come, especially with it being owned by Yahoo! now. However, I’ll always have that fear of Flickr just going belly-up one day and all of my photos being lost. I keep backups on my personal file server; however it’s a pain to update both my server and Flickr every time I take a few pictures…
I’ll try it out for a while, and slowly start uploading my entire collection on there, we will see how it works out this time. In the mean time, check out the new ‘Photography’ page to see what I have going so far!
