Sick Sisters and Ethnic Food

November 6th, 2006 by Markus Langenfeld

I spent my Sunday at Childrens Hospital of Minnesota – Minneapolis. My sister has been having some stomach related issues for a while now, and over the weekend they have gotten worse. The local hospital recommended that we bring her to the Children’s Hospital in the cities so we made a trip down there. The good news is that it sounds like they figured out what’s going on with her right away, and she should be fine. It’s scary however, seeing her go through so much pain and agony like that.

It’s a nice hospital, the doctors there are very efficient and know what their doing, she was in and being tested and treated very quickly. The Children’s Hospital is a pretty big place and the hospital next door; Abbott Northwestern is one of the top in the Midwest. It was nice to get a more… Professional opinion. This also gave me a chance to visit the big city, which I don’t get to do very often anymore. The buildings are tightly connected together in South side of Minneapolis and are right next door (well more like 4 blocks) to the Midtown Exchange building. If you are a long time reader you would recall that name. When I worked for Twin City Security that was a major contract, and I’ve served a lot of time working in that building during its restoration last year.

While I was down there waiting for the results of Katrein’s testing I went to the Global Market in the Midtown building. If you are ever passing through South Minneapolis I highly recommend checking this place out. It’s basically a giant medley of various restaurants, shops, farmers markets, and Café’s. They have just about every region of both staple and specialty foods there. Live music, salsa dance classes, arts, crafts… it’s crazy. I didn’t stay for long; I may go down there again soon.

Anyways, like I mentioned Kate should be just fine after a couple weeks, so that’s a relief.
