Courtney Can Fly.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 10/28/06 at 11:10:46 pmA good friend of mine in New Mexico, who in the last post I referred to as Dr. Courtney, went skydiving last weekend. She posted a video of the jump on her website tonight, and I must say it looks like a hell of a rush.
I’ve never really seen a full skydiving video like this until tonight so I don’t know too much about the extreme sport. However it appears to be a fairly complicated process, I didn’t know there was so much to it. Courtney is actually now going for a certification in which she goes into detail about on her site; I think she mentioned that it takes something like 25 jumps to obtain it. Crazy.
I really do admire anyone who can be a true dare devil and do something amazing like jumping out of an airplane over two miles above the earth. I know I could never pull off something like that.
Check out the video Here.

Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 10/28/06 at 01:10:59 amIf you are seeing this post, you are seeing Marklangenfeld.com on an all new web host.
If you visit this site often, or any of the websites hosted with RackFirm, you may have noticed an alarming amount of downtime lately. It seems that the new hosting I have chosen just a few months ago isn’t going to work out as I had hoped. Outside of the unacceptable downtime, there has been a good amount of other unrelated issues that I don’t have the time, patience, or resources to deal with right now.
I’ve decided to move onto bigger and better things, and those things are all offered from a hosting provider by the name of MediaTemple. If you’re into the design and/or development scene at all, you have likely heard of the company. They are currently one of the largest hosting providers on the planet and I have the pleasure of paying them hard earned cash in exchange of blazing fast, super reliable, amazing-support-backed, web hosting services.
It’s currently 2:24AM CST and I have moved most of the site over to the new server. The SQL backup worked like a charm this time thanks to some help from Dr. Courtney, overall the process was as smooth as it could get.
After I’m done writing this post I will download and move the remaining data and then transfer the DNS settings to (mt), in just a few short hours you should be able to see this post. However, I believe by the time you figure out the last sentence, it will already be working for you.
Wait, What?
Aye
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 10/22/06 at 11:10:41 amThis past week has been just packed. It seems like I’ve been just swamped at work lately with various projects and every day tasks, and to make it better we received all new cubicles this week, an office furniture company came in and completely redid everything. Now I have a nice big 9ft x 8ft workspace, I’m still getting things settled in but it should be real nice. I took some pictures of the new office; you can find them posted Here.
My grandparents had a Pig Roast yesterday, good times. I had the chance to visit with a lot of people I haven’t seen in a while, friends of the family and such. The food was good, they actually stuffed 2 turkeys into this big pig and cooked it all up. Delicious. It’s a bummer however because now my weekend has pretty much come to an end. To top it off I have a raging head cold so I really don’t have the strength or will power to go anywhere or get anything done.
So far my Sunday has been dedicated to playing Battlefield 2142 which I picked up earlier this week. I was going to write up a review for it, but there isn’t much to say about the game. They took a lot away from the experience when you compare it to Battlefield 2, there are no boats, only a couple forms of aircraft and like 3 various land vehicles… The Battlefield series is all about the element of controlling these things and blowing each other away, so that really ruined the game for me. Additionally, I thought I would be into the whole futuristic setting of BF2142 however I don’t feel they did a great job with it. Again when compared to BF2 the game feels overall unrealistic, the colors are too bright and the environments… I just don’t buy it.
I tried to return the game but Wal-Mart caught on to my shenanigans. I guess I’ll have to learn to like this thing. If your looking to purchase Battlefield 2142, and you’re in need of a gaming experience that matches or exceeds then that of Battlefield 2, save your hard earned $50.00.
Obligatory 9/11 conspiracy post.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 10/16/06 at 08:10:59 pmIt’s strange. Over the last few months the theory that 9/11 was planned and controlled by our government has become ever more popular. Personally, the information and the unanswered questions are making it very believable. It’s funny how just recently a couple of the major 9/11 conspiracy whistle blowers have either been arrested in unrelated issues to seemingly discredit them, or in David Graham’s case, poisoned and killed.
I came across this video tonight, this among others I would say is a must see if you’re interested in another story, outside what the media has told us.
Interested in my personal opinion? Not likely, but you’re here on my website reading this so… Personally I’m buying into it. I don’t want to believe that our government as a whole is corrupt. However I’m going to be blunt, I really do think George Bush is a monster, a money grubbing monster at that. In fact the whole Bush family is in my opinion. His poor initial reactions to the events of 9/11, mixed with all of this conspiracy speculation, combined with the Bush family having so many ties with the oil industry…. Why shouldn’t I think something like that? It’s not like any of the public’s questions will be answered anytime soon to prove otherwise.
It’s just strange how there are so many enemies out there, so many terrorist groups, yet the middle east is the one that supposedly caused all of this.
New Buttons and Things.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 10/15/06 at 02:10:38 pmI have a good amount of free time this weekend; rather then getting things done at home I thought I would bum around with the site and such. I re-made the classic ‘Flair’ section on the side bar with some new buttons that go along with the site design. I added a few too so make sure to check ‘em out. I also updated some stuff on my TrendSpace profile, I added some neat videos and some other information, take a peek by Clicking Here or the new MySpace button on the right.
Let’s see what else I can get myself into.
These past couple weeks…
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 10/12/06 at 10:10:34 amI haven’t been around in a while so I’m sure I’ll come up with plenty to talk about.
First off you will notice a brand new design, if you have been checking out the site the last few days you may have seen a total of 3 concepts pop up. I’ve been playing around with some ideas I had and decided to go with this one. I didn’t want to go with another solid color layout but at the same time I didn’t want to do anything too unoriginal so I came up with the angleish, half solid, half expandable boxes thing you see here.
Other then the 14 or so hours I took to make the new layout I haven’t had a lot of time to write up anything or do much outside of working. Last weekend I had a wedding to attend AND I was on call for work. The two combined ate up my weekend and it seems like I haven’t had a real day off in a while. Everyone must be getting married this month because I was supposed to attend another wedding this weekend but it sounds like those plans have changed, and I’ll actually get to spend my time more efficiently, like sleeping and playing video games.
My workload and responsibilities have definitely picked up when it comes to occupational life. I spend most of the day trying to keep up with everything; I’m just swamped with work now. However I’m not complaining, it makes the time fly by and the work I’m doing is definitely interesting. Actually it seems everything has slowed down to a steady pace now that were well into the month, which is nice.
I woke up this morning to find a healthy dusting of snow on the ground. The infamous Minnesota Fall season has officially arrived. Unfortunately we don’t have a gradual change in seasons; a real storybook ‘Fall’ season doesn’t actually exist up here. It was in the 70’s just a few days ago, right now outside the office its 23F and snowing…
Alright well, I suppose I’ll get back to what I was doing here, I’ll try to keep this place more up to date.
I’m Lost.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 10/01/06 at 09:10:10 pmI go to do a post about the weekend today, and I find that my site isn’t working. Then I found that none of my sites are working, in fact the entire VPS is down.
It’s funny how I could go an entire week without paying attention to this place, the weblog that is. Then the instant that I do go to do something such as an update, the site won’t work all day. To make it worse I’ll dedicate my day to fixing a problem that’s out of my control. I’ll use advanced methods such as trying my web address over and over, and then try the other websites on the server, then I’ll try the FTP server… and then do it all over again. It’s like I can’t live without it.
The website is all up and running now, I’ll let you know when I have something more interesting to ramble about.
