Nothing’s wrong with it, it’s just a Ford.

I’m not sure if that excuse will work for the episode that happened this morning. My car decided to overheat on the way to work. Keep in mind that I’m in Minnesota and it’s 58F out right now. The car has been less then great since I’ve purchased it. With little problems now popping up at a nearly daily basis. I’m really starting to consider just getting rid of the thing before something major breaks, if it hasn’t already with today’s events. I’m kicking myself for getting rid of the Voyager.

I’m not going to sit here and whine or fret about the car all day though. I would really rather just not care, ignore it and enjoy everything good that’s going on. Outside the car problems this morning I’m having a good day at work. The new job is very flexible, very lax, No stress, it’s nice. The work I’ve done so far has been very interesting, and challenging enough to not be boring. If I got more sleep at night I would likely look forward to coming into work. I’m still adjusting to getting up at 6:30AM.

I’m going to be making some good money working here too. I plan to buy a new 17″ LCD monitor next month when I get some moolah. I’m not sure if I’m going to use it for the file server, or replace my 19″ Viewsonic CRT with it and have dual LCD’s. Either way, it would be nice to have another LCD around. I don’t think I have plans to buy much else just yet, I’m sure I’ll think of something.

On another note, I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting a server solution through RackFirm in the next couple weeks. I have a couple people I host privately, and a few current and future Mark Squared clients I’ll be moving to the new host. I’m pretty sure the little money I bring in will pay for the server costs, which will be good. I guess now is a good time for a plug, so if you or someone you know is interested in affordable private web hosting, I will have some open spots with the new server. Changes

After last night’s rant, your likely looking for a story on a few of the site changes you may or may not have noticed.

First off, Flickr has been brought back. You will see a Flickr badge on the right sidebar. However Flickr will not hold all of my photography, nor an extensive gallery for that matter. Due to the massive amount of photos the gallery had, Flickr won’t be an option for hosting them. So instead I’m just going to post some of my most recent photos, starting with a few from the trip to New Mexico.

The photo gallery is gone. I only had the one link to it in the portfolio page so I’m not sure if a lot of people even knew it was there. It was getting to be a hassle to maintain the online gallery and the archive on my file server. With the formatting project I did last week with Cerebellum I also took on the project of completely updating over a years worth of photos on it, and I want to keep that up to date.

There is public access to the entire gallery still, as the cerebellum project has been updated to support both hard drives which include videos and photos. You can access all of this by Clicking Here. However you will need to contact me to get the set of logins, as new security measures have been put in place.

The demise of the online photo gallery was also done in an effort to strip the fat out of the website. After nearly 5 years of hosting with MG1 I will be moving to a new host within the next couple months. I would like eventually host Marklangenfeld.com off Cerebellum, so we will see what happens with that if I can get it all figured out.

Hello from Abq. Intl.

What a great weekend! First of all, the Dream in Code W00ters 2.0 Meet up was a success, almost everyone on the confirmed list showed up and it was a blast to meet and hang out with all of the key people of DIC.

I cant even begin to tell all of the amazing things I’ve gotten to see and do over the last few days, so much has happened. Thursday was spent hanging out at Kirkland Air Force Base, that was really interesting, and then the w00ters meet up was Thursday night. On Friday I went up Sandia Mountain via the world’s longest aerial tram located in Albuquerque, I was nearly 11,000 feet above the city, just a wicked awesome view (according to the tour lady, you could see 10% of NM from up there). We also hit the Intel Fab. Center in Rio Rancho, NM. Saturday was one of the highlights of the trip, going to NRAO’s Very Large Array that place along with the landscapes on the way were just amazing. Today is basically dedicated to headed back home; I have some time before my flight so I’m hanging out on the Sunport WiFi.

I’ll have more time to post more about the trip later and I took a ton of pictures of most everything over the weekend, I should have them posted by tomorrow so look forward to that.

Another weekend done. Another post at midnight.

I didn’t do a whole lot this weekend but I guess I got out of the house for a while. Yesterday afternoon I attended a memorial for a family friend who had died of cancer in late July. He was 60 years old which isn’t nearly a full life these days. I would like to live till 80, 90, or 350 if I can. I guess I didn’t know the guy real well, but it’s still sad to see such a nice person pass away.

Friday night I had seen Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby at the local multiplex. I wanted to see a movie like World Trade Center but ‘they’ wanted to see the NASCAR movie. It was definitely a good comedy, it was extremely funny however I’m not completely sure if it was worth seeing at the theater. I’m not big into unrealistic movies, comedy or not. This movie was definitely designed to be more entertaining then realistic. It was good though; it had an original story to it and kept me watching. I don’t know if I’ll add it to the must own list but it will be worth the rental to see again.

On another note, tomorrow I suppose I’ll start getting things planned out for the trip. I’ll need to make sure to pack and bring everything I’ll need so I should like make a list or something… Other then that I guess there isn’t a whole lot going on, I’m going to try to get that Learning Experience finished in the next day or two so check back for that if your interested. If you don’t know what I’m referring to read some of my prior posts.

Until then.

Marklangenfeld.com Version 18

Since I haven’t been posting a whole lot lately I thought I would show my appreciation to this here website (Yes sometimes I refer to my website as a person.) and get rid of the drab army tan look.

This new layout isn’t a whole lot different from the last one I suppose; however there are a few changes here and there. I decided to bring the Contact page back with a new feature; a Meebo powered, flash based, IM application that allows website visitors to contact me instantly. Since I’m always on Meebo that should work out well. I updated various information around the site such as the resume, about page, and portfolio. I also decided to clean up the subscription section, oh wait! there isn’t one anymore. You see that giant orange button with the RSS icon? From now on, if you wish to subscribe to marklangenfeld.com just give that orange button a click!

I think that’s it, drop me a line and tell me what you think.

Burning the Midnight Oil.

Whatever that means, is there actually people out there burning oil at midnight? If so, with the fuel crisis were enduring they should really reconsider doing that.

It is past midnight on Tuesday, or I guess it would be Wednesday… Anyway it’s been another week since I’ve jotted anything down here so I thought I would manifest an update. I just slammed a couple cans of Vault so I’m good to go for a few minutes yet.

One week from today I’ll be headed down to New Mexico. I already stated my reasoning in going down there in my last post. I’ve managed to gather most of the information I needed to know for the trip, printed the tickets etc. The last time I’ve flown on a passenger jet was in 1995 so it’s been a while, and a lot of things besides the security have changed since then. I’m real excited to go down there though, it sounds like they are going to keep me busy and I’ll have plenty to see and do. It will be a nice little vacation from life, with all of the stuff going on right now it’s honestly just what I needed.

On another note, I managed to get that wedding reception DVD finished. It turned out real well and I think the couple I gave it to really like it so that’s good. My next little project, which I started today, is my own Dream in Code Learning Experience on basic wireless network security. For those of you who don’t know a DIC Learning Experience is basically a long, multi-session tutorial done in the topic’s forum. It includes discussion and insight on the topic within it as well. So it will be nice to do something I’m knowledgeable at, being an INT guy on a programming community I don’t get to do that too often. If you still don’t know what the heck I’m talking about or if you want to learn more check out the start of the Learning Experience by Clicking Here.

Other then that I guess there isn’t a whole lot going on, but at the same time I’ve been really busy lately with business as usual, hence the reason I’m typing this in the middle of the night. But we will see if anything happens over the rest of the week and I’ll get back to ya.

Wait, Marklangenfeld.com?

It’s unlike me to go a week or so like this without a peep but I really have been busy.
Busy and stressed out it seems, lots of projects and work to mess with and things coming up… However it’s not nearly all bad, I just get confused and feel overwhelmed at times so I will try and do as little at one time as possible and take one thing at a time.

Right now my big concern is getting this wedding reception DVD finished. I may have mentioned it in an earlier post that I was doing a DVD with video and pictures for a friend’s wedding reception. I really want to make it priority one right now to get it finished because I’ve been slacking off, or rather directing my focus on other things while I should have been working on it. But so far it’s looking pretty good and it’s nearly finished, it didn’t take much time. Which is good because I will be meeting the people tomorrow to present and hand over their new DVD.

As far as what’s coming up, I will be flying down to Albuquerque, New Mexico on August 16th to meet and visit some of the key players of Dream in Code. I’ll have the chance to see a new place in a new environment and hang out with some good friends; I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a long time so I’m REALLY looking forward to it. I’ll have my notebook, net access, camera etc. while I’m there, and I’ll defiantly be taking tons of pictures so look forward to that. I’ll return the night of the 20th so it should be one hell of an awesome weekend.

I’ll try to come up with new material, rants, musings, reviews and whatever else I do on here more often when I have some more time to do so. However if you really love to read my opinions and projections (who doesn’t?). Remember, you can catch me bloging about the IT and IS technology industry on my DIC Developer Blog at Workgroup Intelligence.
