Trendspace Lives On
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 06/18/06 at 08:06:40 pmBelieve it or not I get a handful of people asking me every week if I have a MySpace profile. The site has become so popular that if you don’t have a page on there you simply aren’t among the living.
My dislike for the community isn’t due to the concept behind the site, because I have to admit it’s a good idea. It’s the people who thrive on it. It’s like being in High School all over again with the immaturity and the people and their classifications they give themselves or “Clicks” as they were called. They live in their manifested existence because it’s popular not because of their personal beliefs and or creativity. Also the names for these classifications are always derived from some genre of music, how can you BE a type of music?
Maybe I don’t understand because I have a job and a life and I don’t use my time in a mission of trying to be like the next person. But that’s not the point of this post; the point is that no matter how hard you try to avoid certain things in life, if you do succeed in staying away, you’re reminded of it. In this case the non-stop explanation of why I don’t have an up to date profile on MySpace rather then just giving in and flipping a URL.
If you can’t beat them join them, Right?
I spent some time today customizing the page to my liking and updating the information. Click here to view my MySpace Profile.
