Bam, Back to work.
Posted by Markus Langenfeld - 01/28/06 at 03:01:06 pmEveryone knows about Bam Margera and his show Viva La Bam. After evaluating a couple episodes of the show last night I thought I would ramble off my opinion, which is the point of this website yes?
It’s mildly entertaining, and funny I give it that. However at the same time there’s something about it that gets on my nerves. I don’t know what it is and I may not understand because I have a job and I don’t live at home with my parents with the addition of like 6 of my friends in a house that is so insistently trashed. But I do know that television shows like these have become models for society.
What I’m saying is people will follow every detail like zombies and it does reflect. It’s surprising to me to see how many people out there that would rather be a menace to society then be productive citizens. I’m picking on Bam because he’s the perfect example.
I’ve ranted about this before and people will come back and say “Well Bam is a professional skateboarder, that’s what he does.” No, Bam may be considered a professional skateboarder but he’s nothing special. This is coming from a fan of the sport, with high respects to true athletes like Danny Way and Kareem Campbell.
Bam was just somehow picked up by the mass populace and proclaimed as the best skater ever, yet all he ever brags about on his show is his drop in technique. Try dropping in from a helicopter a few hundred feet off the earth like Danny, then you will be something special.
In the meantime I think Bam could think about not being such a show off with his little cape he runs around in looking like a moron and maybe get a job or a purpose in life rather then infecting our nation’s youth with worthlessness.
